The firm printed the first two issues of Media 10 monthly Self Build Update with hybrid screening software on its two Agfa Galileo Ultra LP82 platesetters.
The introduction of the technology, which mixes conventional and FM screening for finer results without changing press settings, was a response to demand by Media 10 for better quality on its Ancient House produced monthly Icon.
"Icon is printed on very lightly coated matt paper and, because it is a design-led title, Media 10 needed it to be of the highest quality," said Ancient House commercial director Trevor Claydon (pictured right).
As a result of the 6,000 software installation, Ancient House won the second Media 10 contract within weeks.
The 64pp title has an average monthly print run of 30,000.
"Both Self Build Update and Icon needed the highest print quality. We use a matt paper, and were having problem with highlights and shadows" said Media 10 production director Tim Garwood.
