Gittings had worked at the Littlehampton-based label printer for the past eight years. Prior to that he worked at Hannibals and AGI.
In a post on the company's website, director Jayne Scrimgeour said: “Tim Gittings was one of the most committed, dedicated and knowledgeable people in the print industry. He had a passion for labels that was infectious.
“Tim’s customers were extremely important to him and throughout his eight years at AJS Labels he not only drove all aspects of the business forward but championed customer service.
“Under his leadership, the company went on to win awards for this service, something that he was especially proud of.”
AJS Labels won Label Printer of the Year at the PrintWeek Awards in 2011 and 2012.
Jordan Dudas from the firm won the Trainee of the Year award at this year’s ceremony while the business was highly commended in the SME of the Year category and a finalist in the Label Printer of the Year category.
“Tim was a big character in so many ways; professional and inspirational at work but the life and soul of any party,” said Scrimgeour.
“He was admired and respected by everyone who worked with him and a great support to colleagues throughout the business.”
Managing director Andrew Scrimgeour added: “Tim will be very sadly missed by all at AJS Labels and I know by his customers. He will be especially missed by those of us who had the privilege of being his friend.”
The funeral will take place at Gilroes Crematorium, Groby Road, Leicester on Monday 29 December at 3.15pm. This will be followed by a wake at Castle Hotel in Kirby Muxloe.
Gittings’ family has requested family flowers only but said donations can be made to Cancer Research UK. There will be a condolence book at the service for anyone wishing to leave messages.
