The automatic B2 platesetter, which was launched at Print 01 (PrintWeek, 14 September 2001), went into the 22-staff pre-press and printing firm in December and was up and running by the first week in January.
The 135,000 investment also included Agfas Apogee workflow and Sherpa colour proofer. Scantech is using Agfas Lithostar violet plate.
Managing director Peter Stephens said the Palladio would help the 1.5m-turnover firm become more efficient. He said it was now entering a "period of consolidation", although it could look at buying another press later in the year.
Scantech deals mainly with advertising agencies, printers and print brokers. Stephens formed the firm 11 years ago, buying Crosfield scanners, then DuPont colour proofing and a Heidelberg press.
