Agfa seals deal with US defence company

Defence and technology company Northrop Gruman Corporation has signed a deal to manufacture electro-optic sub-systems for a line of CTP products from Agfa.

Under the terms of the seven-year agreement, US-based Northrop will produce grating light valve-based imaging heads for Agfa's Avalon and Xcalibur CTP systems, as well as refurbishing and testing products and spare parts for these systems via its Adaptive Optics Associates (AOA) division.

Jeff Yorsz, AOA general manager, said: "We have added personnel with more than 200 years of combined computer-to-plate industry experience to support Agfa products and to enhance the considerable expertise we already provide government and commercial customers."

He added that AOA's expertise would enable a "seamless transition" for Agfa's existing customer base.
