Described as an environmentally friendly successor to the Amigo, the Amigo TS features improved contrast and runs of up to 200,000 plus impression without post baking, although it can also be baked for longer runs.
In addition, the plate is up to 50% faster to image than its predecessor and has a longer bath life, meaning greater efficiency and lower maintenance for users.
Marc Op de Beeck, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Agfa Graphics, said: "Amigo TS offers printers that are currently working with standard chemically processed thermal plates a more efficient, robust and greener alternative without demanding any large investment.
"The Agfa-developed ThermoFuse technology – the basis for the world's most successful chemistry-free plates – makes it easy for commercial printers to become more productive and eco friendly."
Agfa said that, while the Amigo TS has been designed for use in standard platesetters and processors, the fact it uses Agfa's ThermoFuse technology makes it more consistent than standard chemically developed plates.
"ThermoFuse's purely physical image formation eliminates many exposure variables, including pH, temperature or replenishment," the company said.
The Amigo TS will join the Azura V and Azura TS plates and the Avalon N platesetter on Agfa's stand at next month's Ipex exhibition in Birmingham.
