Communisis One, the Leeds-based creative and repro arm of the print and direct marketing group, has invested 500,000 in digital pre-press from Heidelberg.
The investment includes a Prinergy workflow and Primesetter B1 imagesetter installed earlier this year and a fully automatic B1 Topsetter thermal platesetter, which will be installed in November. The Prinergy system replaces an Agfa Apogee workflow.
"Prinergy gives us the ability to send print-ready PDF files to printers," said divisional digital services manager Paul Beresford. "The problem with Apogee was the trapping. Prinergy has vector-based trapping its much better."
The firm is also looking at adding a digital proofer to its CreoScitex Iris 4Print. It uses the Brisque that drives the 4Print to create CT/LW files for customers who print gravure, including holiday firm Haven.
