The ink density control system, along with 3TControl's automatic registration and cut-off controls, has already been installed at Spanish newspaper printer Heraldo de Aragon on its new KBA Commander CT, the first of its kind in the world.
Pedro Poza, general manager at Grupo Heraldo, said the system had already had a measurable impact, claiming that registration could now be completed within 30 seconds, even for long-run jobs therefore freeing up staff for other tasks.
"As a direct consequence, we have obtained a consistent 40% saving in makeready waste," he added.
"Quality has never been more consistent and uniform throughout the whole print run. The solution has been a great investment for us."
He said that overall the systems had created an annual saving 1.3% "considering the overall paper consumption".
Pricing for the density control system varies depending on the press on which it is installed, because different numbers of cameras are required depending on the number of printing units.
The registration system can be bought separately, although is included as part of the density management solution.
The 3TControl products are available from John Pullan, general manager at CKW Mach.
