The Docklands firm will print the 120pp A6 yearly horoscopes, part of a promotion for the newspaper's star astrologer Jonathan Cainer, from next month.
Variable data provided by Daily Mail readers including their name and the date, time and place of their birth will be processed to produce a fully personalised book including text and full-colour graphics.
In a contract worth around 300,000, 3D will print the books on its Xerox iGen3, installed last summer, and its DocuColor 6060.
They will be perfect bound on the company's Horizon BQ-270 Touch perfect binder, installed during the autumn, and 3D Digital director David Moyse said that around 30% of the book would be fully personalised, and that "the majority of the book" will be printed in full colour, although the exact design is yet to be finalised.
Moyse described the calculation process as a "scientific formula" developed by Jonathan Cainer and 3D staff, using Pres programming tools from Program Products.
This is the second time that 3D has produced the Jonathan Cainer personalised horoscope. The first print run, last summer, ran to 57,500 copies.
Moyse said that the presentation of the new book would be "a lot glossier and more snazzy" than the previous run.
He added that the company was "contemplating" buying either a second iGen or a Nexpress. "The way volumes are going, we anticipate the need for further bit of kit around April," he said.
The promotion is run by London-based below-the-line marketing agency HH&S.
