30m contract boost for Quebecor World

Quebecor World is on the road to recovery following the signing of a $60m (30.6m) multi-year printing contract with Bauer Publishing.

The North American print giant is currently restructuring following its application for bankruptcy protection and the consequential closure of its only UK site in Corby earlier this year.

Jacques Mallette, president and chief executive of Quebecor World, said: "Bauer is one of the largest and most successful magazine publishers in North America. We are pleased to continue our partnership with them."

Under the agreement, Quebecor World will print Woman's World, First for Women, In Touch Weekly, Life & Style, J-14 and Life Story. Together, these six magazine titles represent more than 250m printed copies a year.

In the US and Canada, companies can trade with the aid of debtor in protection finance enabling them to implement a restructuring programme while in bankruptcy protection.

Bauer joins a growing list of publishers and retailers renewing contracts. McGraw Hill, Simon and Schuster and Wenner Media are among the most recent to renew with the printer.
