The purchase of the Combi-Estro and Combi-Unica was driven by the Cheshire-based company's desire for more work. "We were losing out on jobs," said Intaglio managing director Peter Murphy.
The Unica offers 2D buckle plate folds for single, up to quadruple, pockets. The Estro is a capacity folder-gluer that offers 3-12mm pockets, for folders, envelopes and CDs.
Murphy admits the machines were a big investment for the 175,000-turnover firm. "But looking at the figures and the amount of work we would lose, it made sense."
Early this year the firm, which also offers die-cutting and hand finishing, installed a Heidelberg Polar 92 guillotine. The firm hopes to add three staff to its existing seven, and is also mulling a move to larger promises.
