Talbot: "Don’t sweat the small stuff"

Victoria has spent a decade in the printing industry and took over as managing director of Huddersfield-based Steadfast Tapes just over two years ago.

She’s 42, married with three children and her hobbies outside of work include going to the theatre. She also recently achieved the highest grade – a distinction – in the BPIF’s Level 7 Senior Leadership programme.

What is your nickname?

Mostly it’s Vicki, but my mum likes to be different and calls me Torie

Why did you get into printing?

I got the opportunity to work for Logo Tape UK and never looked back

What would be your dream job?

Being a wine taster would be an absolute dream

Who would play you in a movie about your life?

I’d like to say Sandra Bullock, but realistically I’m probably more of a Rebel Wilson

What is your favourite film?

Braveheart – an absolute classic!

What is your favourite TV show?

I love a drama; The Handmaid’s Tale is superb. But I also have a guilty pleasure for the Real Housewives franchise

What are you reading?

I listen to audio books while driving. I’m currently listening to Dawn French’s Because of You

Sweet or savoury?

Both. I love chocolate but you also can’t beat a crisp sandwich

Who do you admire most in the industry?

Dr Ulrich Wesselmann, the owner of the Logo Tape Group

Cat or dog, or…?

Dog! I have two rescued Podencos called Elkie and Nightingale

What is your greatest luxury in life?

Holidays – I like to travel to unusual destinations. Ever since a trip around Morrocco I fancy myself as a bit of an explorer

Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with?

It would definitely have to be my husband

What is your greatest ambition?

For Steadfast Tapes to become the UK’s leading tape printer

What’s your greatest fear?

I am petrified of Jaws! I won’t go near the sea!

Most embarrassing moment?

I have a few, but they are no longer embarrassing to me. I look back at them as quirks that make me, me

Where would you like to be now?

By a pool, in the sun, with a book; only having to think about when the next mealtime is

What superpower would you like to have?

Mind reading would be amazing

Where would you go if you could time-travel?

I’d travel back to the Elizabethan period. I love the fashion, the history, everything about it

What piece of printing kit would you like to see invented?

A device where multiple flexo designs can be printed one after another automatically

What advice would you give to your teenage self?

There’s a few: don’t sweat the small stuff; not everyone has to like you and that’s okay; this too shall pass
