Q&A: Jamie Court, managing director, Clinical Print Finishers

Jamie has worked in print finishing for 23 years. He’s married to Kathy and they have two children, Charlie aged six and Abi aged four.

Outside of work at the Leicester small-format finishing specialist, he says he “loved watching the mighty last season wonder team Leicester City FC” and also shooting.

What is your nickname? 

For some reason they call me Darth Vader at work, it must be my tolerant personality

Why did you get into printing? 

I joined the family firm as engineer in-between jobs and have remained ever since

What would be your dream job? 

I always wanted to work in the theatre but the dramas of print finishing may have put me off now

Who would play you in a movie about your life? 

Basil Fawlty, we have a similar management style

Who or what do you hate the most?

Bad payers and bullies

Who do you admire most in the industry? 

It could only be my father Alvin Brown our current chairman, he made finishing look easy

What is your favourite book?

I don’t really have the time but quite often I read Monkey Puzzle to the kids

What is the strangest job you’ve ever done?

Hanging upside down repairing a fuel tank on a Jaguar fighter jet

Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with? 

Jack Dee, we’d cheer each other up

What is your greatest ambition? 

To take my kids to watch Leicester City in the Champions League Final

What’s your greatest fear? 

Losing the Final!

Who or what makes you laugh?

My children make me laugh; they always have something funny to comment on

What piece of kit would you like to see invented?

A decent tin opener

Which celebrity would you like to get out of here? Why?

Russell Brand, he’s rude and opinionated, comedians should stick to being funny and leave politics alone

Where would you like to be right now?

Somewhere with my family that’s warm with cool beer 

What’s your worst fashion disaster? 

My 1970s tank tops

Which superpower would you like to have?

If seeing into the future counts, that one

Where would you go if you could time-travel? 

1888 around the time of Jack the Ripper, creepy but interesting

What was your childhood obsession?

I always wanted to join the RAF but unfortunately never did

Re-print

Fair, fun, honest, loved a pint and dependable
