Q&A: Adam Roppert, production manager, Imprint Digital

Adam is 34 years old and as far as we know he’s the first former tank soldier to appear in PrintWeek’s Q&A. He has been in the printing industry for seven years and describes life with a young family as “pretty hectic”.

He’s also a keen cyclist but admits that he seems to have turned into a fair weather version. He also likes “just about all sport especially Formula 1” and is currently renovating a Westfield kit car.

What is your nickname? 

AJ. It’s an old Army nickname (I can’t go into the details) but it also happens to be the initials of my first and middle name

Why did you get into printing? 

Purely by accident. One of the owners of Imprint was trampling the waste paper bins and happened to ask my temporary employer at the time if he knew of anyone looking for a job

What would be your dream job? 

Fast jet pilot or Apache pilot would be awesome. Unfortunately my eyesight was never good enough to be a pilot so I settled for becoming a tank soldier

Who would play you in a movie about your life? 

Probably Jason Statham – my wife fancies him and we have the same hair style

What is your favourite TV programme? 

Sherlock, although I’m not so keen on the latest series

What is your favourite album? 

Lately it’s Isn’t It Strange? by Lauren Aquilina

What is your favourite book? 

We produce thousands of books a day but I can’t remember the last time I had time to read anything

Cat or dog, or…? 

I’d love a marmoset monkey

What is your greatest luxury in life? 

Audi A5 Sportback

Who would you like to be stuck on a desert island with? 

Cameron Diaz 

What is your greatest ambition? 

To raise my children to be kind, thoughtful and well mannered

What’s your greatest fear? 

That I might end up a grumpy old man

What piece of kit would you like to see invented? 

One that makes all our customers pay on time

Most embarrassing moment? 

At school I commented to my classmates about a lady who had nice legs in a slide presentation. I nearly died when the teacher announced that it was her

Back at school – to learn

What’s your worst fashion disaster? 

That has to be my green shell suit in the 1980s

Which superpower would you like to have? 

Flying and being able to survive in space

What was your childhood obsession? 

Aeroplanes and diamonds

What advice would you give to your teenage self? 

Never wish yourself older and don’t worry about what other people think of you
