Where are you based?
Wensleydale Press was originally based in a small shop in the centre of Hawes, but after a few months we realised we needed larger premises. As luck would have it, a house and stables on the edge of town came on the market
How many staff do you have?
Just Nigel and myself plus Jack, my dog – he’s the meeter and greeter
What does your firm do?
We do anything up to SRA3 litho and short, full-colour digital. A wide range of business and social stationery, plus we have large-format kit for architectural plans and canvas pictures which we can also frame
What’s your typical customer?
Local businesses and organisations, big and small, and the general public
Which geographic areas do you serve?
With no other printer within 20 or so miles we mostly cover the upper Yorkshire dales of Wensleydale and Swaledale. But we have customers all over the country
What’s your USP?
Good, fast service at a good price. We’re always willing to be flexible
What’s your company’s motto?
Common sense prevails
What equipment do you run?
Ryobi 3302 and Ryobi 3200NP, Ricoh 3001 and an HP DesignJet
What’s been your proudest achievement in the past few years?
Overcoming foot and mouth in 2001 – it had a great impact on Hawes
Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
Honestly? Probably retired. Nigel and I are reaching the age when we should be enjoying life in the countryside. There is potential growth in the area, though, if I showed more ambition
What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
Don’t have one; Jack’s is anything that is given to him
