Aidan notes: “I watched a Sky News interview with Jacob Rees-Mogg traveling around the UK speaking to people about Brexit. He stopped off in a nearby village called Belcoo in County Fermanagh, and they said he was visiting the most westerly part of the UK. I always remember saying to myself (and nobody else since!) well, we must be the most westerly printing company in the UK then!”
Where are you based?
Enniskillen, Northern Ireland. We have moved three times in our 40-year history. Our current and permanent home is a purpose-built 1,500sqm factory that our dad built in 1990. From nothing only hard work
How many staff do you have?
15 people plus a few junior members when it gets busy. My daughter (13) got her first pay cheque last summer
What does your firm do?
We are classed as a commercial printer but our product range is vast, from design to print, embroidery and promotional merchandise. Our dad’s philosophy was never saying no to any customer, the answer is always yes and go the extra mile. We’re also a trade printer to a few companies, mainly NCR but anything we can help with
What’s your typical customer?
There is no norm, one minute it could be an undertaker needing a same-day order of service, 10 minutes later it could be a repeat customer of 40 years ordering sale cards
Which geographic areas do you serve?
Mostly local, but also across Northern Ireland, Ireland and the UK, but we would love more. We can be very competitive because we have no high rent
Which markets do you serve?
Mainly SMEs but also some very successful large companies
Who are your clients?
Everyone from a lady looking for one photocopy to a blue-chip customer the prime minister visited last month!
What’s your USP?
We have a great team that can handle any requirement. Never say no, the answer is always yes
What’s your company’s motto/mission statement?
In 1984 it was ‘We make you look good on paper’. As of 2018 it is: ‘We do it just ask’
What equipment do you run?
Heidelberg litho presses, Xerox digital presses, Mimaki wide-format, Tajima six-head embroidery machine and a host of post-press devices
What’s been your proudest achievement in recent years?
We lost our dad, founder and best friend during Covid in 2020. Thankfully, through the values and experience he taught John and I, we didn’t have to suffer like a lot of family business. As sudden as it was, we could go back to work the very next day and continue with great support from our family and the excellent staff
Where do you see your business in five years’ time?
Because of the unique location within the UK some readers might see potential in working with an NI company rather than being scared of the paperwork with EU customs. We’ll keep continuing what we’re doing, slow and steady. Offering an excellent service to our customers for the next 40 years and… pick up some new business from this feature
What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
It has to be Kimberley biscuits
