Solway Print is run by Amanda Creedon Bass and Matthew Ronnie. It was founded 43 years ago by their fathers Mac Creedon and John Ronnie.

Where are you based? 

Solway is based in Dumfries: perfect for covering Scotland and northern England, and technology allows us to easily deal UK-wide. Some of our biggest customers are in London 

How many staff do you employ? 

A truly fantastic work force of 15. The longest-serving members are our dads 

What does your firm do? 

All commercial printing aspects using litho and digital and we continue to specialise in letterpress with that market burgeoning

What’s your typical customer? 

Everyone from sole traders to multi-national businesses and charities. They all get the same uncompromising level of service

What’s your company’s motto? 

To strive for the customer. Our entire team work on that basis and it’s apparent in everyone’s enthusiasm to get the job done. We’re very proud of the team and their achievements

What’s your USP? 

Definitely our team’s skills and experience. A personal touch while being able to deliver on a big scale

What equipment do you run? 

Multi-colour Heidelberg GTOs, two Heidelberg platens fed by a Ludlow Typesetter, a Waite & Saville die-stamping press, a variety of finishing kit and a Xerox 700 digital press

What has been your proudest achievement in the past few years?

The transition from one generation to another. Our clients and staff have been so supportive and in turn we’re delighted to be able to safeguard the company for another 40-plus years

Scottish tablet as made by Rosemary Wallace, our typesetter Ian’s mum, - it’s heavenly
