The couple originally rented an old apple store in the middle of a field. “Hence the name Apple Binding.” They bought an old James Burn hand punch and binder, and things progressed from there. The business continues to operate during the Covid-19 pandemic and is open for essential work, and becomes the first “60 seconds with” business to depict its team social distancing at work.

What does your firm do?
The mainstay of our business is Wire-O binding, plastic coil binding and tabbing. We have a huge capacity for collating, and other small processes such as shrink wrapping and drilling

Our customers are 90% printers from the South East area
What equipment do you run?
Semi-automatic Wire-O binding machines, plastic spiral/coil binding machines, two automatic punching machines, automatic tabbing machine, 48-station deep pile collating capacity, semi-automatic shrink wrapping, round cornering and counting

We are blessed with fantastic staff and great suppliers
What’s your company’s motto/mission statement?
Our company motto is to meet or better all of our customer deadlines. I don’t think we have ever missed one
What’s been your proudest achievement in the past few years?
I think our proudest moment is now. We have managed to keep going through the recession, Brexit and we hope to survive this latest awful situation around the coronavirus
What’s your team’s favourite biscuit?
We would probably have to do with jam, cream or custard doughnuts (sorry, more than a biscuit!)
