The Windsor-based business said that its shelf labels were both a cost-effective and efficient means of managing pricing, product and promotional information within the point-of-purchase (POP) arena.
According to the company, the technology offers a range of benefits over other electronic means of shelf advertising such as the ability to update the display several times a day.
Although the labels feature no animation, they use no power once the image has been uploaded onto the electronic display.
David Rogers, SVP business development and marketing at ZBD, said: "Convenience stores and forecourt shops typically serve customers with different profiles during the course of the trading week.
"Our technology provides a unique tool to change promotions and pricing instantly across the store at any time, so retailers can optimise sales in response to dynamic trading conditions and competitor activity."
Earlier this year, St Ives signed a three-year deal with e-paper (electronic paper) manufacturer Motion Display, making it the sole UK and Ireland distributor for the Swedish company's display technology.
That technology provides a lightweight, low-cost means of adding moving or flashing images to point-of-sale (POS) displays and has considerably lower power requirements than alternative means, such as LCD displays.
However, ZBD said the products differ as their offering gives users the ability to change the content to a range logos, text, images and barcodes, while Motion Display's products offer a fixed image, an animated product that cannot change the image once defined.
The company will be showcasing its product range at the Insight NACS Future of Convenience conference, which is held at the British Library in London from 19-23 September 2011.
