Previously, Xeikon has hosted annual user events at its manufacturing centre in Lier, Belgium, but this year is taking the new Xeikon Café concept to Denmark, France and the UK.
The concept of the seminars is described by the press manufacturer as "simple but effective: to provide an informal knowledge exchange platform covering the different aspects of digitalising print production, while cutting through the information overload".
The UK event, taking place on 10 and 11 June, involves a factory tour of Midacre-based CS Labels, which claims to be Europe’s largest reel-to-reel Xeikon house. The label printer uses three Xeikon presses, the latest of which, a Xeikon 3500 digital press, arrived in September 2012.
The company is using Xeikon’s colour control technology and running multiple label designs on one web using its Xeikon presses, enhancing the flexibility of the machines and cutting down production time. CS Labels managing director Simon Smith said that the firm’s employment of these latest capabilities made it a suitable choice for Xeikon to introduce users and potential customers to its technology.
"We will be talking about how we moved into digital printing ahs showing how we use the Xeikon presses and latest technologies at the factory tour. The day is beneficial in terms of talking about the latest developments with technology, and is a good opportunity for Xeikon users to share best practices and talk about business," Smith said.
Management information company Hybrid, paper manufacturer Herma and Label Traxx, a US software developer for the narrow web flexo and digital market, will also be attending and giving presentations about their offerings over the two-day event.
Previous events at Xeikon’s Belgium office have attracted up to 70 businesses. Cafés have already taken place in Bulgaria and Belgium and Xeikon users and prospective customers are invited to the Cafes scheduled in May in Denmark and France.
