Winner of PrintWeek Fantasy Football league announced

Ricoh and PrintWeek have announced the winner of this season's industry Fantasy Football league.

Tim Baigent and his team Glyder pulled in 1,928 points across the season, putting him in pole position to take home £5,000 of Ricoh equipment, a Nintendo Wii and a year's advertising on printweek.com, and outwitting more than 1,000 opponents.

Manchester City's millions may not have bought the club the title, but they certainly helped Baigent's title push at the end – the spine of his team was made up of Joleon Lescott, Yaya Toure and Carlos Tevez. Second-placed Chelsea was the only other team to feature more than one player in his side, John Terry and Ashley Cole steadying his five-man defence.

Ricoh UK marketing director Chas Moloney described the campaign as "hugely rewarding". Moloney also played a starring role in the match at the Ricoh Arena in Coventry, where he bravely defended goal for the Ricoh/PrintWeek team as they took on a side comprising each monthly winner from the Fantasy League.

However, fantasy played no part in 90 minutes of out-and-out-action. Moloney added: "The standard of play was high. We were still losing with 10 minutes to go before we turned it round equalising and then scoring again in the last few minutes."

Steve Rowson of Stralfors, who travelled up from Cornwall for the event, said: "It was really good, very well organised and a good-spirited game.

"It was great to be able to take home the kit, and to have the chance to play at a professional ground like the Ricoh was amazing."
