West Midlands-based William Gibbons & Sons Ltd will print the magazine, taking over from Polestar Bicester, which printed the magazine for two years. Both printers also print a number of other titles for DC Thomson, the company that publishes the magazine.
A DC Thomson spokeswoman would not disclose how much the new two-year contract for The Scots Magazine with William Gibbons was worth.
The magazine will be printed on Gibbons 16-page Komori web presses on 90gsm UPM Finesse Gloss with a 130gsm Galerie Art Gloss cover, which has a UV varnish finish for the relaunch. The size and pagination have changed to 84pp B5 format, and the magazine will still be perfect bound.
The print run will be 55,000 for the relaunch and it will be printed every four weeks. The magazine also launched its new website in September 2012.
Editor-in-chief Sally Hampton said the magazine had been redesigned for today’s audience. "Close collaboration between our editorial and design teams has produced a magazine that’s both clean and classic, and allows us to showcase the best that Scotland has to offer," she said.
"I’m absolutely delighted with the results and thrilled to have such high-profile interviewees as Brian Cox and Ricky Ross."
