The new machine doubles the company's flexo printing capacity and has been installed at the group's Hednesford, Staffordshire facility
The group's latest investment forms part of Weedon's lean manufacturing programme, which has been implemented to remove bottlenecks within the factory and increase efficiency.
According to John Weedon, managing director of Weedon PSC, the investment in the second TCY press will ensure that the company "retains its position" as the UK’s leading manufacturer of retail-ready packaging and point-of-sale display units.
"We will be able to meet growing demand more efficiently, reducing lead times but maintaining the highest levels of quality," he added.
The press investment comes on the back of Weedon boosting its headcount by 100 and almost doubling its turnover to nearly £20m after acquiring corrugated packaging manufacturer Rowpak Containers.
The group has now brought some of its corrugated sheet board manufacturing in-house with the acquisition from Jardin Corrugated Cases.
According to Weedon, the deal also gives the group a springboard into the north of England with Rowpak's Manchester location.
"Weedon Corrugated Products customers will continue to experience all that was good in their dealings with Rowpak, with the added benefits available through Weedon PSC and i2i Europe," he added.
