The MX-530 Plus has been in development for the past year, building upon the continued evolution of the Leicestershire-based firm’s flagship product. Running at 20m/min, it is designed to halve production time on long-run digital print jobs sized up to SRA2.
Express foiling capabilities are fitted as standard, increasing system efficiency, and pneumatic rollers for lamination – which now come on every Matrix machine – are employed for greater accuracy on jobs. The new machine is designed for the mid-range market and can be used for jobs printed on both litho and digital.
“We continue to develop our Matrix systems all year round, and this latest version is coming out just in time for a PrintWeekLive! launch,” said product manager Lewis Evans. “After our success last year, selling five machines on the show floor, we knew this was the best place for a new product launch.
“Its reasonable price makes the MX-530 Plus the lowest cost for its spec, and it is the best machine we have put together in the market.”
When the machine is unveiled at the Wasps Arena, Coventry, on 7 March, Vivid will be running applications to show off its capabilities in laminating, foiling, and spot UV effects.
Commercially available at the end of March, it is modular, allowing for the addition of Vivid’s Omni Flow deep pile feeder – which automatically feeds sheets into the system. Customers running a 10m/min Matrix with an Omni Flow can upgrade to the MX-530 Plus and use the same Omni Flow module on the new machine.
The system can run on low-cost lamination films, and its “tighter temperature control” improves foiling quality, according to Evans.
Vivid previously announced that it would debut the MC-35 Magnum creaser and MCC-35 Magnum cutter/creaser at the show on 7-8 March, promising to “significantly speed up” cutting and creasing processes for customers.
