UPM Shotton awarded Queen's award for sustainability

UPM Shotton has won a prestigious Queen's Award for its sustainability efforts.

The newsprint mill, which is based in Deeside, North East Wales, was awarded the Queen's Award for Enterprise: Sustainable Development by Her Majesty's representative Lord Lieutenant Trefor Jones CBE.

Jyrki Ovaska, UPM's president of Paper Business Group, and David Ingham, general manager of UPM Shotton, received a rose bowl to mark the achievements that the mill has made towards sustainability.

The paper mill is the UK's largest producer of newsprint made entirely from newspapers and magazines and generates its own electricity and steam from paper making residues.
