The wide-format XR-640 was launched on 13 September and Sign Solutions owner Kate Murray quickly signed up after seeing the machine in action at Roland’s Clevedon showroom.
Murray placed the order to take the XR-640 from Roland’s first shipment which will arrive November this year.
She said: "It is important to keep up with new technology. We’ve got a business that is growing so we want a product that is better placed to service our customers. If there is something better out there than we already have, then we ought to be investing."
The Yeovil company has part-exchanged its four-year-old Roland Pro3 XJ740 with dealer Printmax for a "sufficiently good deal".
The Pro4 XR-640 will be joining a VS640 printer/cutter to increase Sign Solutions' finishing capabilities.
Murray said that the nature of her business meant that the fine quality of print was paramount.
The new Light Black Eco-Sol Max2 ink was a big selling point for Murray, who explained that the greys and skin tones of their work would be better reproduced with the new ink range.
"We do a lot of work with shop fitting companies so it is scrutinised up close. Our customers want the best reproduction of their artwork and are looking at it in fine detail.
"The Pro4 XR-640 is faster than our current machines without losing the quality of the final print production."
Murray believes that new work will come as a result of the investment and said that she intends to recruit a new salesperson prior to the November arrival of the XR-640 to develop the business and bring in new work for the press.
