It claims that the newly formed business, which encompasses a total of 630 employees, will be Scotland's largest publishing business, with 1.5m readers each weekday and 1.1m readers on a Sunday.
Scottish and Universal Newspapers, the regional publisher, will now report through the national structure, which includes Scottish titles the Scottish Daily Record and Sunday Mail.
A spokesman for Trinity Mirror told PrintWeek that, at this stage, the company has not made clear plans on how the business will move forward and there are no current plans regarding job losses or relocation.
However, a management team has been put in place, with Trinity Mirror Nationals managing director Mark Hollinshead extending his responsibilities to include the managing director duty for Media Scotland.
He said: "The creation of Media Scotland denotes the start of a dynamic new era in Scottish media.
"With our unique blend of national and local content, the combined reach of our portfolio of print and digital brands will deliver unrivalled coverage across the Scottish market. I look forward to working with our new top team in the exciting times ahead."
The management structure for Media Scotland also includes Allan Rennie, who will take on the role of editor in chief and take responsibility for all titles and editorial websites. Bill Steven has also been appointed business development director.
As well as the two national titles, the business includes 20 local newspapers, including the Ayrshire Post and Stirling Observer, Business Insider magazine, an events division and 36 local and commercial websites.
