Xerox was awarded the deal following a tender through the procurement Scotland framework and as a result, has installed an iGen4 press, two Xerox 700 digital colour machines and a Xerox DocuColor 252 at SPSA’s central print site.
By replacing its existing mono and colour equipment, the non-governmental public body anticipates it will save half a million pounds when based on its print volumes in 2009-10.
John McCroskie, head of corporate communications for SPSA said: "We have a duty to make sure that the public purse is being used wisely.
"We recognised that any replacement of our legacy printers would need to drive down costs and help reduce our unit cost for the production of printed materials."
The company's new equipment will be used to produce a range of print that includes short-run branded materials such as leaflets, posters, booklets and magazines.
Peter Taylor, director and general manager, large enterprise and graphic communications, at Xerox UK added: "SPSA looked to the print room as a route to save money whilst boosting its services amongst its various business areas.
"We are pleased to have been chosen to support this initiative and meet the needs of this public organisation."
