According to CRI Digital managing director Colin Davies, the partnership with Stirland stemmed from years fulfilling each other's digital and litho requirements.
"After talks last year, we decided that it made great economic sense for us to combine our premises," he added.
Davies said there was little overlap when both businesses compared their customer lists, a factor that helped encourage the tie-up.
"This would indicate a huge potential by way of new digital business just from customers that our friends at Stirland Paterson already know, and indeed litho work from customers that CRI already work with," said Davies.
CRI's digital capabilities complement Stirland's B2 Heidelberg litho setup, which comprises 12- and five-colour CD74 presses as well as its in-house finishing battery.
CRI Digital, a long-time Xeikon customer, has invested in a new digital colour press, the Xeikon 6000, which boosts productivity at the 15-staff business.
He said: "We needed to take the next step up to the Xeikon 6000. The 5000 product had been an excellent machine for us, but digital presses are still advancing, and the new 6000 offered us significant productivity benefits.
"The format of the Xeikon means that we can print up to 500mm wide stock by virtually any length. This is now our fourth Xeikon machine – we believe that its web design offers the most flexible format available in the digital market."
