It’s a return to the winner’s podium for Sherwood; last year the firm picked up a commendation having won the category in 2005 and 2006. Examples of its work included the Escape Collection of greeting cards for the Lynn Tait Gallery. The brief was to achieve pin-sharp clarity and exact colour reproduction to the fine art prints supplied by the gallery. An improved colour gamut was achieved using stochastic screening, a process that uses smaller dots than conventional screening. The Sherwood Press also produced 120,000 swing cards for Santoro Graphics. These were printed in four-colours on both sides with a spot semi-satin emulsion varnish to the face and all-over sealer varnish to the reverse. The construction of the cards allowed for very little tolerance in die-cutting but, thanks to its in-house Sanwa 1060E, the job was finished very precisely. Another job Sherwood submitted was the Eden Carbon Neutral publication for Museums and Galleries Marketing. The brief was to produce a totally environmental range of stationery; this was achieved on the company’s Komori Lithrone S40P six-colour press.
