Smith Signs invests in UK's first Roland DG VersaUV LEJ-640

Smith Signs has invested in the UK's first Roland DG VersaUV LEJ-640 in a bid to expand the company's range of services.

The Guernsey-based business has taken delivery of the wide-format hybrid machine, which was installed by large format supplier printMAX.

According to Dan Smith, managing director of Smith Signs, the new machine has proven "an excellent addition" to its range of print hardware and one that will broaden its service offering.

The Roland DG VersaUV LEJ-640 incorporates both white ink and clear varnish in addition to a CMYK colour set and features a print width of 1.625m, printing onto coated and uncoated substrates up to 13mm thick.

According to the company, the incorporation of white ink and clear varnish make the printer ideal for the production of short-run packaging and prototypes.

The VersaUV LEJ-640 offers a maximum resolution of 1,400 dpi - quality Roland DG claims to rival screen printing output.

Smith added: "It was an obvious choice as the LEJ-640 is an extremely versatile printer that offers high quality white and clear print options, plus a host of special effects to create striking textured effects on a range of media.

"It will enable us to expand our range of services. A big thanks to the team at printMAX for their support, both pre, post and during the installation process."

The VersaUV LEJ-640 is available with CMYK plus white and clear varnish, CMYK plus two channels of white, or CMYK plus two channels of clear. The printer is available with a list price of £45,999.
