The Chichester, West Sussex-based business opted for the new folder after installing a B2 Komori Lithrone five-colour S29 press, its second model, at the end of 2011.

According to David Lamdin, director of Selsey Press, an increase in print volumes coupled with the need for a folder that could handle multiple formats were the main factors behind the investment.

He added: "We were open-minded on the make, but we liked the quality of the Stahlfolder. We went to Germany to see the machine and talked extensively to people in the field, gathering feedback before making a decision.

"We have had Heidelberg equipment already and we know how good their service back up is and that too was convincing."

Replacing an outgoing Shoei folder, the machine will run alongside a retained MB folder, guillotine and Muller Martini saddle sticher in the family-run company's post-press operation.

In addition to the Stahlfolder KH78 combination folder, the company has added a Polar Transomat unloader to one of its guillotines to increase throughput.

West Sussex-based Selsey Press, which was founded in 1963 and has 22 staff, works with a range of clients, including financial institutions, local authorities, charities, galleries, hotel chains and publishers.
