The Haddington printer, part of the Montgomery Litho Group, which specialises in book production, has taken the 900XXL model in 7B format with a maximum sheet size of 1200x1620mm.
The Roland 700 HiPrint will allow the company to print B1 in a 5/5 perfecting configuration, complete with an Inline Sheeter device for cutting sheets for the press from a web reel.
Tommy Montgomery, managing director of Scotprint, said manroland ''ticked more boxes than the rest'' when it came to looking at criteria such as price, quality, delivery and back-up service.
The company focuses on three main book markets, educational books, trade books, film/TV-tied publications and children's books. The printer also produces cartographic documents and prospectuses.
He added: "Our Scotprint plant is certainly due for an update with regard to presses – our last purchase was in 2000. Presses have come on quite a way since then, especially with regard to running and make-ready speeds – these machines are certainly much more productive."
Montgomery also said the new machines would allow the company to explore the potential for JDF connections throughout the business.
Gary Doman, sales director for sheetfed sales at manroland said: "Naturally we are delighted to be supplying Scotprint with these two press configurations.
''We believe that these two machines will provide the enhanced levels of productivity that the company requires in order to further expand its business."
