The Innovative Printer of the Year was one of the strong groups with very high-quality entries. While most of the entries had good production value, Jak Printers’ entries, which won this Award category "took more chances, even within traditional styles." The Excelerate flyer had the judges exclaiming "an innovation that’s succinct and hip too!" The Chinese binding used and the casing for the book Madhushala also came in for special praise.

SEL JEGAT is the Label Printer of the Year
Sel Jegat: fine-tuning the hybrid new world of label production
Sel Jegat, a first time entrant and winner of the Label Printer of the Year Award had the judges admiring the first-rate illustrations and the overall attention to details. The golden colour on the cigarette’s filter tip was conspicuous and so was the smoke on the ‘No Smoking’ label. "This label was well done and was excellent for its purpose," said one judge. Sivakasi-based Sel Jegat has a complete array of offset, letterpress, flexo and screen printing machines and has recently added a Rotaflex automatic label detection system, the first of its kind in Asia Pacific that works with PDF; Nikka ODRIi system that enables digital workflow on the shopfloor. The labels submitted were printed from five- to eight-colours with spot varnish and on Avery and Raflatac substrate.

DIVYA BHASKAR is the Newspaper Printer of the Year
Divya Bhaskar: the tireless visionaries of Gujarat
With the circulation number in India soaring and advertising catching up, quality of printing has become paramount to survival and growth. The judges found some well-executed newspapers that demonstrated excellence, but just like the first edition of PrintWeek India Awards, the judges again selected the Gujarati newspaper Divya Bhaskar for the coveted Award for its excellent design, layout and print quality. A judge said "In the cities, customers take print quality for granted, but when you pick a regional newspaper and find the quality outmatching the national dailies, one has to appreciate the quality more." Equipped with a KBA Prisma, Divya Bhaskar has a print capacity of 2,70,000 copies per hour, fires TechNova’s Viostar plates on a Krause LS Jet 300 and uses Micro Inks. It is also equipped with an Idab Wamac mailroom system.

PRAGATI PACK is the Packaging Printer of the Year
Pragati Pack: quite simply, a game-changer in the art of packaging
This was a group of high-end printing quality with many high profile printers showcasing the best of their products. But Pragati Pack beat off stiff competition (by half a decimal) to claim the top prize in the packaging category. Pragati demonstrated the holy trinity of print, packaging and client brief all coming together to create a truly original and outstanding finished piece. The judges were particularly taken in with the Printer’s Black Dog 18 Years carton complete with flocked thermoforming tray moulded to the bottle’s size and pasted in the box. According to Pragati, the client UB was looking to produce a special packaging to launch their most premium whiskeys in India. Pragati produced it using metallised PET with white, CMYK and blue colour background. "It’s an example of what’s driving a lot of changes in packaging," said a judge.
