The company scored consistently highly across all four samples of work submitted. One judge said the work it carried out on The Internet’s Gone Down, When Can You Have it Fixed? for Whitespace "really stood out in terms of production". The 1,000-run 120pp title, which features amusing stories and illustrations, was printed as 8pp sections on the company’s Heidelberg XL 75 press with 100gsm Edixion offset stock for the text. Northend returned to Edixion for its 150gsm stock for the cover sheet and dust jacket. Silver block foiling was handled by Blockfoil Nottingham, while sewing and case-binding was finished to a size of 200x145mm by Hunter & Foulis of East Lothian. The finished product was well received by the client and equally well received by the PrintWeek Awards judges, who referenced the "excellent printing and binding" throughout. Another submission from Northend that caught the attention of each judge on the panel was the case-bound volume featuring the works of celebrated artist and illustrator Barnett Freedman for The Fleece Press. A limited run of 350 copies, the text was printed on 170gsm Scheufelen Parilux Matt Cream stock using Saphira Excel high-intensity inks, with an in-line matt coating on its Heidelberg CD 74. The unusual cover for this particular job was printed on 160gsm Ingres Avorio before binding was completed by The Fine Book Bindery.
