The company based in Oldham recently installed a Horizon SPF/FC-200A stitch-fold-trim line, which cost £33,000 and is expected to achieve a return on investment within two years.
“We were sending booklet work out, but with runs getting shorter and turnaround times faster the way to remain competitive and gain greater control over costs was to add a bookletmaking line,” said director Anwar Miah.
It joins a five-colour Heidelberg CD 74, a Heidelberg QM 46 and a Konica Minolta Bizhub, producing commercial litho and digital print for national and local businesses.
The 4,500bph JDF-ready Horizon, supplied by Intelligent Finishing Systems (IFS), boasts 200-programme job memory storage for instant recall.
An icon-based touchscreen for job set-up is also equipped with a 10-station VAC-Turbo 1000 PowerCollator.
“We looked at other systems on the market including those from Duplo, but liked the Horizon for a number of reasons. It was more robust, easy to set up and quick to makeready.
“I also liked the user interface: any one of our staff can operate it as it so automated. We can offer a wider range of sizes more competitively.”
Print Right, which employs nine staff and makes a turnover of £500,000, hopes to double its turnover in a couple of years.
It currently rolls out leaflets in runs of 25,000 to 50,000 for catering businesses and restaurants and the new kit enables shorter runs of 10,000 to 20,000.
Miah said the company was looking to buy another press and was toying with the idea of a four-colour Heidelberg machine.
