Prinovis UK invests in Kolbus Publica binding line

Gravure printer Prinovis UK has made a six-figure investment in a secondhand Kolbus Publica binding line in order to offer in-house perfect binding to its customers.

The company said it had identified a clear need in the marketplace for high-speed perfect binding, and said the purchase was a "considerable strategic investment".

The machine will be tailored to meet the needs of retail and publishing clients, and will feature 12 gathering stations, which are upgradable to 24.

They are equipped with static nailers for loose inserts and tip-on feeders for product samples and cards.

The machine will also feature a system binder with a minimum bulk of 3mm and a maximum bulk of 65mm.

Richard Gray, managing director of Prinovis UK, said: "The investment in perfect binding marks a huge step in our course to continually improve our level of service quality for our customers.

"It also signals a clear commitment by our shareholders."

Alexander Adler, head of corporate communications at Prinovis, said: "Investments taken at Prinovis are driven by customer or market needs. There will always be leeway for reasonable investments in our UK business."

According to PrintWeek's Top 500, Prinovis UK had a turnover of £76.6m in 2010 and 453 staff. Its customers include News International and Northern & Shell.
