Polestar retains Hearst contract

The Polestar Group has agreed a new three-year deal with magazine publisher Hearst Magazines UK to continue printing 12 of its leading consumer titles.

Under the new contract, which includes both news stand print and subscription mailing titles, Polestar will continue to produce its portfolio of glossy magazines including titles such as Elle, Good Housekeeping, Red, Zest, Cosmopolitan and Runner’s World.

Printing of the titles will be carried out across Polestar’s Chantry, Colchester and Sheffield sites.

Polestar key account director Avril Jenkins said that Hearst Magazines UK was core to Polestar's business as the companies' working history spanned more than 30 years.

She added: "We are delighted to have retained the complete stable of titles we produce across three manufacturing sites."

Hearst Magazines UK production director John Hughes said: "We are very please to continue our long standing relationship with Polestar. We trust them and know that they will support our publishing requirements into the future."

In January this year Polestar had considered closing its 300-employee web offset facility at Colchester due to "the market outlook" but negotiations including increased working hours and pay and holiday reductions saved the plant from closure.
