The commercial printer said the machine, bought straight off the stand at Ipex (19/C750), would help it achieve longer runs and provide "sophisticated" finishing options to its customers.
"We've made a considerable investment in the business over the past five years and this saddlestitcher is the final item on the list," said PDS Print managing director Gordon Bryan.
According to Bryan, the investment was made to increase the company's production efficiency and to reduce set up times.
He said: "We looked at other equipment but found that both the build quality and the technology were superior on the Muller Martini machine."
The company had a 20-year-old Muller Martini stitcher, which has been traded in.
"One option was to buy another secondhand machine, but once you look at the time saved with the new E90 and work out how much money that saves over just the first five years, then it's a clear winner in anyone's book," added Bryan.
The 9,000cph Presto E90 is one of the new generation of saddlestitchers from Muller Martini and was launched last November at an open-house event.
