The Packaging Society and the Institute of Packaging Professionals (IoPP) are set to contribute to a new stream of seminars at the conference, which was last held in 2011, targeted specifically at packaging firms.
The seminar programme will include presentations, panel debates and discussion forums, which event marketing manager Angelina Stojsavljevic said was designed to be as interactive and useful as possible.
She added: "This is a totally new format and will offer extremely relevant content."
The event is set to take place in Harrogate from 14-16 May and as well as offering a new print for packaging specialist conference programme, it will see working presses on the show floor for the first time since 2007.
Sixteen exhibitors, including Edale, Flexo Wash, Flint Group, Nilpeter, Rotametrix and Bobst, will make their first appearances at the event while visitors will be able to attend three new seminar theatres for information on market trends and business case studies.
The three seminar programmes will include: The New Printing Landscape - Embracing change, which will offer guidance on the latest cross media developments and trends; Thinking out of the Box – supported by the EIFA, targeted at packaging converters and SME commercial printers interested in packaging opportunities; and Printers Profit Zone, organised by The Print Coach, Nick Devine, where visitors can access business advice.
Stojsavljevic said that the new packaging focus had sparked a "fantastic response" from both exhibitors and prospective visitors.
"We’ve had excellent uptake. We had around 2,300 visitors in 2011 and we hope to make it 3,000 this year.
"We feel this totally new focus and format it is a good extension of what is happening in the printing industry. Printing and packaging go hand in hand and it is becoming even more important for businesses to look around for new opportunities to expand into to get that vital ROI."
