The company, a division of the Oxford University Press group, opted for the slitter/cutter/creaser unit to complement an existing Canon imagePress C6000 that it installed last year.
According to Ian Wilton, operations manager at Oxuniprint, the digital investment allowed the company to produce a greater range of short-run work.
He added: "However, as we were expanding our digital print capabilities, we were experiencing a bottleneck in our finishing department.
"The purchase of the DC645, which we will use for CD and cassette inlays, as well as items including business cards, will enable us to increase our production schedules and relieve post-press pressure."
Canon used Ipex to demonstrate to digital printers how to harness complementary technology to add value to their work.
Duplo showcased six products at Canon's stand in Hall 10, including its Ultra 205A UV coater and Digital System 445 bookletmaker.
It also exhibited products such as its DB-280 perfect binder within Canon's Graphic Arts and Central Reprographic Department zones.
According to Mark Lawn, European marketing manager at Canon Europe, finishing "fits perfectly" with the company's goal of making printers more efficient and profitable.
"Print finishing is becoming more automated and it is a real opportunity to add value to a print job, whether through a quicker turnaround or by enhancing the quality of the finished printed product," he said.
