According to the publishing giant, the time is now right for the Thameside location to go on the market.
For 20 years the facility was the home of News International's printing facility after Rupert Murdoch moved out of Fleet Street in 1986.
Murdoch invested £600m in new facilities at Broxbourne, Knowsley and Scotland and the final copy rolled off of the Wapping presses on 19 April 2008.
It was announced in 2007 that the company would quit the site, with a host of potential sites being considered across London as a home for its journalists. However, the recession hit housing prices and the decision was eventually taken to turn Wapping into a "campus" for the company's UK business.
A statement from News International said: "The decision to sell the 15-acre site follows a review of News International’s London property portfolio.
"The majority of News International’s Wapping-based editorial and commercial staff have now relocated into Thomas More Square with the remainder to be relocated by the end of 2011.
"Thomas More Square provides the company with excellent facilities and flexibility. As a result, and in light of current market conditions, News International has decided not to proceed with re-modelling the Wapping site."
