NAPM targets sustainability at annual forum

The National Association of Paper Merchants (NAPM) has said it is to target sustainability at its annual forum on 12 October.

The forum, entitled 'Sustainability of the UK Print Industry – Paper Consumption Growth, Stability or Further Decline', will be held at the Marriott Hanbury Manor Hotel & Country Club in Hertfordshire.

The keynote speaker will be Attribute Associates' Andy Tribute, and the event will be chaired by Mike Gee, president of the NAPM and managing director of Denmaur Independent Papers.

Other speakers at the event include Jasper Scott, manufacturing director of IPC Media, Barry Mcllheney, chief executive of the PPA, Andy Brown, corporate affairs director of the BPIF.

Frank Leerkotte, managing director of Print Power, the Two Sides campaign's European sister, will also speak, along with NAPM director Tim Bowler.

Bowler said comparing 2009 to 2008, "paper consumption took a step change, and tonnage went down 9.2%.

"We were hoping for a bounce back in 2010, but there has still been a slight decline in 2010 on 2009. We need to address why this is the case, and ask what will paper consumption be like in five years' time."
