Mercian targets trade work with online digital label service

Mercian Labels has moved into the web-to-print arena after launching what it claims is the first online digital label service aimed at trade customers.

MeTra Digital, which can be found at www.selfadhesivelabels.com/trade, will use the company's Xeikon 330 colour printer to produce short-run jobs for customers across Europe.

The offering, which is targeted at authorised trade resellers of digitally printed labels, allows customers to obtain quotes on a job on a 24/7 basis.

Managing director Adrian Steele said the web-to-print model offers "significant benefits" to trade customers, with competitive pricing, coupled with minimal end user interaction.

He added: "Our award-winning Xeikon label printing solution is perfect for trade buyers, with easy online and real time-quoting, including new cutters, fast deliveries and the ability to run practically any job in any run length."

MeTra Digital allows customers to access quotes for a job, as well as giving them the ability to track and trace orders.

Steele said the new online offering would help trade clients provide the best service to their own customer base while also migrating flexo-printed work to digital.

The 40-year-old company, which is based in Cannock, Staffordshire, employs 21 staff and has a turnover of £1.5m.
