LCC calls on printers to support print foundation degree

The LCC has called for print companies to support its foundation degree in Print Media Management, which is under threat of being scrapped.

The future of the course remains uncertain, despite a surprising turnaround when the LCC lifted its suspension only a week after announcing that the course faced being scrapped.

At least 24 students are needed for the course to run and the college has said that this target has not currently been met. It has urged printers to send staff on the course to develop their skills.

Alan Springett, senior lecturer at the LCC and course director of the Print Media Management degree, said: "We need industry support for the course to continue."

The course runs for two days a week and would suit any junior employees at UK print companies, Springett said.
