The firm, based in Bermondsey in south London, visited Ipex to sign for a £70,000 Duplo DC-745, which it will use for business cards and creasing.
It chose the device after an extensive evaluation process.
“Our benchmark job was 350gsm cards laminated on both sides,” explained managing director Adam Frost, who praised the quality of finished result from the device as well as its auto-register feature.
Kube runs litho and digital kit, and a raft of associating finishing equipment. It produces a lot of business cards and postcards via web-to-print.
The £3.6m turnover company employs 33 staff and operates 24 hours a day, five days a week.
“It’s our first standalone piece of equipment like this,” Frost added. “You can have a job that involves £3 of clicks and then £10 of guillotine work using conventional equipment. We’ve been talking about getting something like the Duplo for a long while. It will free up capacity and over time we’re sure it will have lots of uses.”
The firm works with a wide range of clients including education, corporate finance, print managers and agencies.
