Kremer Signs claims world first with interactive ad board

Kremer Signs has rolled out what it claims is the world's first dual-technology information board for the estate agent market.

The Smartboard combines QR code and Near Field Communication (NFC) technology on a boarding that sits beneath the traditional advertising sign that displays the estate agent name and contact details.

If a potential buyer requires information on the property, they can scan the QR code using their mobile phone, which directs the user to a mobile-friendly version of the estate agent's website.

This displays information on the property and offers the customer the opportunity to request more information from the vendor.

Equally, mobile phones that are NFC-enabled can simply touch the Smartboard and present the same information to the user.

Reading-based Kremer is printing the boards on its Inca Spyder 320 flatbed printers and said the application gives estate agents another way to target the housing market.

Gary Gosney, sales and marketing manager at Kremer Signs, said: "We've been working on this application for nearly six months and believe that it gives the estate agent another route to market when promoting their property."

He added that the Smartboard also offers value for money with the customer able to reconfigure each board once the property is taken off the market for re-use in another area.
