The new Versamark systems comprise two entry-level mono engines, the Versamark 100 and the 150, while colour output is available on the 300 and 500 machines.

All four models are available in both narrow and wide configurations, denoted by an N or a W, for both simplex and duplex printing.

The manufacturer's 100N/W and 300N/W models can print at speeds of up to 75 metres per minute at a resolution of 600x600dpi.

Kodak's 150N/W and 500N/W systems offer output speeds of up to 125m per minute at a lower resolution of 600x360dpi.

The latest Versamark machines also feature new drop-on-demand printheads that the company claims help reduce dot size variation that in turn reduces banding.

Kodak also claims that jet reliability has been improved, resulting in stronger roll-to-roll performance, while enhanced temperature control results in an extended printhead life.

In addition, Kodak's 700 Print Manager handles a variety of application formats that include native IPDS support, PDF, PostScript and PPML/GA.

According to Isidre Rosello, general manager of digital printing solutions at Kodak, the latest Versamark systems couple the company's "proven technology" with an improved image quality and a smaller footprint.

He added: "The market called for high-speed colour inkjet that delivers higher performance in less space and we responded with smaller, more productive and reliable systems that fit any business and grow with the customer."

In July, Kodak detailed a series of enhancements to its Versamark VL-series of drop-on-demand inkjet printers that the manufacturer claimed improved both quality and reliability.
