The Henley-on-Thames-based company was tasked with showcasing the team's achievements and values within a high quality book called FORCE, being given to sponsors and VIP guests.
It chose Arctic Paper’s Munken range of uncoated papers and boards, Hello Fat Matt high-yield grade paper by Robert Horne and Leicester-based high definition printing experts Taylor Bloxham Printers to ensure the finished product would be suitably glamourous.
Pangaea used 300gsm Munken Polar smooth paper for the cover of the book, printed 2/6 colour and die-cut and debossed. It has a UV gloss varnish and silver foil blocked outer cover sleeve in 300gsm Munken Polar Smooth.
Creative partner Carlo Belli said: "We required a grade that reflected the professional profile of Sahara Force India and the quality expected by the F1 team and would take fluorescent ink well."
The punched cover was designed to bounce light in and out, evoking the lights going out on the F1 grid, which Sahara Force India has swiftly moved up since arriving on the F1 scene.
There were several challenges in the project – post-production on the team archive, gatefolds and using orange fold thread while retaining focus on both image and quality were key hurdles to overcome.
All Sahara Force India’s drivers to date are featured in the book, including Giancarlo Fisichella, Vitantonio Liuzzi and Jules Bianchi.
Belli said: "You have to use images in certain ways. You want to keep the sponsors happy. It needed to be a promotional product and sell the team."
He said Taylor Bloxham, which had an existing relationship with the team "were instrumental in making all of our ideas come to life."
Phil Newton, account director at Taylor Bloxham, said: "Formula 1 is all about innovation so we used fine screening to print the brochure in high definition. The process gave the high quality photography the detail and colour vibrancy it deserved."
Sahara Force India’s head of sponsorship, promotion and media, Sadie Wigglesworth said the team was "absolutely delighted with the outcome."
Pangaea's creative talents combined with their unique understanding of both the commercial and marketing requirements of an F1 team make them a highly valuable asset in these sorts of projects."
