The company printed 15 520-sheet jobs for a US customer on a Rapida 106 in 59 minutes and 36 seconds, a production run that involved 14 completely new set-ups.
For press operators Andreas Ullbrich and Ralf Maskos this meant changing all eight plates 14 times with blanket washing, impression cylinder washing and changing the feeder and delivery piles.
KBA’s DriveTronic SPC (Simultaneous Plate Changing) cuts plate-changing time on a Rapida 106 to just 60 seconds irrespective of the number of printing units and their configuration, and allows blanket and cylinder washing to be performed automatically at the same time, the company said.
