Ipex Preview - Environment - Star Product: KBA VariDryBLUE

The German manufacturer has built up a solid reputation for technical innovation, as well as developing green technology for its presses.

Its latest environmental addition comes in the form of VariDryBLUE, a new infra-red/hot air drying technology. KBA claims that the traditional drying process accounts for 40% of the total energy consumed by a printing press.

The VariDryBLUE slashes this power consumption by up to 50%, according to KBA. Essentially, the addition is engineered to dry high-gloss coatings and recovers, and re-uses, ambient circulating air.

As a result, KBA says that the system offers substantial energy savings over conventional dryers by reducing the heating power required by 2x17.5kW hours. The VariDryBLUE is available for all large-format KBA presses and can also be retrofitted.
